PRIVATE YOGA ~ YOGA NIDRA

What is Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice that is a simple sleep meditation, that helps you achieve deep states of meditation with minimal effort. It’s a combination of alert awareness and profound relaxation. You are guided with verbal instructions. It works by taking you through the brainwave states similar to those that occur in sleep. The intention is not to fall asleep but to let your body rest by letting go of thoughts and observing sensations in the body. We will do some very gentle movements, breathing techniques, and affirmations to rejuvenate our mind, body, and spirit.

WHY PRACTICE YOGA NIDRA?

There is a paradigm shift from thinking and doing to feeling and being during this type of meditation. Yoga Nidra literally translates to “yogic sleep”. Through guided meditation into this state, the body restores the senses and mind to their natural function and awakens a subconscious awareness that allows you to feel a sense of connectedness. It is said that doing 45 minutes of yogic sleep accounts to the benefits of up to 3 hours of actual sleep.

BENEFITS OF YOGA NIDRA

The practice of Yoga Nidra has been found to reduce anxiety and tension. It helps cope with the negative effects of an overstimulated autonomic nervous system including high anxiety, headache, chest pain, sweating, palpitations and abdominal pain. Yoga Nidra can have powerful psychological benefits as well in healing mental or emotional wounds, and assists those dealing with depression and dependency.

I just want to say thank you, again. It was a beautiful session. The yogic sleep was really something else. I felt so rested afterward.

YOGA NIDRA WITH SHADIA

I didn’t really have thoughts like my to do list as I normally do when I meditate, these were memories, some even from my childhood, which was interesting to me. I just let them go and they came in and out. It was pretty amazing.
